Darryn Farrugia

Darryn has been an active member of the Melbourne music scene for nearly twenty years now as both drummer and educator.

Currently Darryn is playing around town with Jamie Oehlers, Los Cabrones, Logic? and Alex Pertout as well as doing a large number of freelance gigs with numerous artists. Tours include the Fiona Burnett Quartet Petula Clarke, Thelma Houston and more recently, guitar virtuoso, Slava Grigoryan.

Darryn has played on a large number of recordings for artists such as Alex Pertout, Fiona Burnett, Logic?, Matt Kirsch, Linda Cable, Venice Beach, Penny Dyer, Christine Sullivan, Deode, Simon Patterson and Lisa Young. Soundtracks include Crash Burn, Love and Other Catastrophes and Paperback Hero.

As an educator Darryn has conducted workshops and clinics around Australia and is a faculty member of the Victorian College of the Arts, the Defence Force School of Music, as well as teaching a number of students privately. In 1993 Darryn released his instructional video entitled Focus on Practice and in 2003 released his book Groove Perspectives. Darryn has also written article for Drumscene Magazine and Modern Drummer Magazine (USA).
